When the past still affects the present
You may have grown up experiencing abuse, neglect, or an environment where you didn't feel safe, heard, or supported.
Even years later, you might notice that you're still affected by what happened. You don't have to figure it all out on your own. I offer trauma-focused psychotherapy for adults and young adults (16+) who are navigating the lasting effects of childhood trauma.
You might be experiencing...
-
Feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or constantly on guard
-
People-pleasing or difficulty saying no
-
Shame, guilt, or being hard on yourself
-
Difficulty trusting others or feeling safe in relationships
-
Trouble setting or maintaining boundaries
-
Feeling disconnected from yourself or your body
-
Difficulty understanding or managing your emotions
-
Struggling with intimacy, sexuality, or closeness
-
Feeling like you're still affected by things that happened a long time ago
You don't need to relate to all of these. Everyone responds to difficult experiences differently.
How we can work together
Therapy can help you better understand how your past may be affecting you today, while creating space for new ways of responding.
Together, we may work on:
-
Building self-trust and self-compassion
-
Understanding your emotions and reactions
-
Setting healthier boundaries
-
Feeling more connected to yourself and your body
-
Improving relationships and communication
-
Processing experiences that continue to affect you
-
Feeling safer and more in control of your life
I integrate EMDR and IFS/parts work, choosing approaches based on your needs, goals, and comfort level.
Starting trauma therapy doesn't mean you have to tell me everything that happened.
You are always in control of what you share. We can start with what's happening in your life today and work at a pace that feels safe for you.
You don't have to be “ready” to talk about your trauma in detail to begin therapy.
A space where you can be yourself
My goal is to offer a warm, compassionate space where you can feel heard without judgment.
Whether you're trying to understand yourself better, break old patterns, reconnect with your body, or simply feel more like yourself again, we can work together toward meaningful change.
You don't have to talk about everything
